Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The vice-president of the 4th Commission of the National Assembly (AN) for State Administration and Local Power, Paulo de Carvalho, stated Monday, in Lubango, that there are conditions, in most municipalities, to implement the local authorities.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Commission has already visited the provinces of Bengo, Cunene and Luanda, and is now in Hui\u0301la and Ui\u0301ge, with the mission of making visits to four municipalities in the province.<\/p>\n

The head of the parliamentary delegation, who has been in Hui\u0301la since Friday, 2nd, stated, at the end of a meeting with the provincial government, that for local elections to take place, it does not necessarily have to do with local conditions, but with the form how the National Assembly will decide how they will be implemented, gradually or simultaneously.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis has not yet been decided, a decision will be made in due course. But the expectation, as a citizen, is that there will be local elections and I consider that the sooner the conditions are met, the better\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

He declared that \u201cCasa das Leis\u201d is waiting for the proposals for a Law on Local Authorities to be submitted and the 4th Committee will deal with the matter, together with the 1st, but only after the arguments are submitted will they be able to pronounce.<\/p>\n

At OGE level, Paulo de Carvalho referred to the lack of information about what municipalities and provinces need as a difficulty, which is why there is a need for greater interaction with the Ministry of Territorial Administration (MAT), as well as the verification, in order to solve the problems and even leave some clues for solutions.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo adequately represent the citizen, we need to maintain contact and this does not mean maintaining working relationships with the authorities, but with the citizen, above all. We have already visited the Lubango prison and we want to visit the market, speak to motorcycle taxi drivers, taxi drivers and other citizens to assess their difficulties and what they expect from the Government\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Regarding the concerns presented, the parliamentarian highlighted that they were not aware that Hui\u0301la is in such a bad situation when it comes to water and electricity supply, but they will take all concerns into account and look for solutions.<\/p>\n

In turn, the governor of Hui\u0301la, Nuno Mahapi, stressed that one of the main concerns is the social sector, as it is the one that leverages any development.<\/p>\n

He added that health, transport, energy and water, as well as tourism are sectors of concern, in order to also generate employability to meet the concerns of youth.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe continue to work to have more resources and thus meet the needs of the population. The budget will never be enough as we have several challenges in all sectors,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

The visit by deputies from the 4th Committee of the National Assembly who joined the residents of Hui\u0301la, which began on Friday, will run until Thursday, 8th, and will extend to the municipalities of Chibia, Chipindo, Lubango and Quipungo.<\/p>\n

During the visits, the group is holding a meeting with municipal administrations to present the actions developed in the 2023 OGE. After the meetings, visits are made to administrative, social and business infrastructures in that municipality.<\/p>\n
