Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Plenary of the National Assembly (AN) will proceed, this Wednesday, in an extraordinary way, to discuss and vote, in general, on the Proposed Law on Anti-Doping in Sports.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was released this Monday to the press by the First Secretary of Parliament, Manuel Dembo, at the end of the Conference of Parliamentary Leaders, led by the president of the sovereign body, Carolina Cerqueira.<\/p>\n

According to the deputy, the Diploma must be approved in the “house of laws”, taking into account the commitments that the Republic of Angola has made with international organizations.<\/p>\n

The proposed Law in question, which has six chapters, nine sections and 74 articles, was sent by the Executive to the National Assembly in the form of an urgent process.<\/p>\n

According to the founding report, the fight against doping in sport has been a way of preserving the health of sports practitioners, guaranteeing sporting truth and ensuring the practice of clean sport where the principles of ethics and sporting truth are strictly respected..<\/p>\n

Current reality has shown that, despite all the efforts made, the use of banned substances does not only affect high-performance sports, but also young people of school age and users of weight training gyms, constituting a problem for some countries. public health.<\/p>\n

The Republic of Angola signed the United Nations charter against doping in Sport in 2006 and, in January 2009, Parliament approved resolution 8\/09, adhering to the International Convention Against Doping in Sport.<\/p>\n

The justification report makes reference to the need to adapt to the national standards of the World Anti-Doping Code, whose primary mission is to combat and use prohibited substances and methods in Sport.<\/p>\n

It also aims to contribute to the education and training of athletes and other sports agents in relation to the fight against doping in sport.<\/p>\n

The Proposed Law contains, among other matters, the prohibition of doping, the practitioner’s responsibilities, the list of prohibited substances and methods, control access during and outside sporting competitions and the athlete’s medical treatment.<\/p>\n
