Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>More than six billion kwanzas were collected in 2023, by the Port Company of Cabinda, less kz 83 million, compared to the same period in 2022.<\/b><\/p>\n

The fact was announced on Wednesday, in this city, by the president of the Board of Directors (PCA) of the Cabinda Port Company, Jose\u0301 Joa\u0303o Kunvigua, when he was speaking at the celebration of the port’s 62nd anniversary, a ceremony witnessed by the vice-governor for the political and social sector, Miguel dos Santos Oliveira, representing the governor, Mara Quiosa.<\/p>\n

According to the PCA, the revenue collected results from loading and unloading services for raw and containerized goods, among others.<\/p>\n

Jose\u0301 Joa\u0303o Kunvigua said that, during the period under analysis, the port institution handled 16,043 containers and also handled 194 thousand tons of various goods.<\/p>\n

He claimed that, in the same period, the port registered the entry and exit of 417 large and medium-sized ships, which corresponds to an increase of 71%, compared to the same period in 2022.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to inform you that the indicators registered a reduction, as there was a decrease in imports during the third and fourth quarters of last year, and as well as the conditioning factors of macroeconomic variables that resulted in a rise in the exchange rate and inflation\u201d , he explained.<\/p>\n

According to the PCA, in terms of costs, the port company spent more than 5 billion kwanzas last year, due to the entry into operation of the job qualification and career plan, which involved a salary adjustment.<\/p>\n

The manager pointed out as prospects for the current year the growth in the share of the Cabinda port company in the national and regional market, improvements in the loading and unloading of passengers and cargo, training and permanent qualification of human resources, acquisition of new equipment and such as the entry into operation of recently completed infrastructures.<\/p>\n

The company’s other big bet, according to the PCA, will be the concession of port infrastructures, allowing the institution to remain an operating port and become a concessionaire or landlord.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are at a turning point, so we intend to make history, because for the first time we are going to stop being a port operator and become a concessionaire or landlord\u201d, he highlighted.<\/p>\n
