Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino de Azevedo, reported on Wednesday, in Cape Town, South Africa, that Angola and Botswana are studying measures to counter possible sanctions that the G-7 countries intend to impose restrictions on diamonds produced by Russia, which could affect the two African countries.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking to the Angolan press, after meeting with his counterpart from Botswana, on the sidelines of the Mining Indaba, the official said that the two countries want to \u201cmake themselves heard so that such a situation can be avoided\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe look together, very carefully, at the current proposal of the G-7 Group, regarding sanctions on Russian diamonds. We think that if implemented, it will affect the diamond industry in our two countries\u201d, reiterated the minister.<\/p>\n

According to Diamantino de Azevedo, we need to work together to be heard and prevent these measures from affecting activity in the diamond industry in Angola and Botswana.<\/p>\n
