Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, authorized the requalification works in the city of Cuito and the commune of Cunje (Bie\u0301), with expenditure estimated at 202.8 billion kwanzas.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to Presidential Order No. 46\/24, of February 2, consulted this Wednesday, an amount of 5.3 billion kwanzas was authorized for inspection services.<\/p>\n

The document states that the requalification work in Cuito and Cunje, in the province of Bie\u0301, is part of a vast program of construction of integrated infrastructures, requalification and urban conversion at national level, initiated by the Ministry of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, in coordination with provincial governments.<\/p>\n

For Cuito and Cunje, the project includes the recovery of 50 kilometers of the urban fabric, as well as the construction of public squares, among other means, which aim to improve the furnishings of these locations.<\/p>\n

The city of Cuito, according to data from the municipal administration, has 61 official neighborhoods.<\/p>\n

Under these terms, the Head of State authorizes the expenditure and formalizes the opening of the simplified contracting procedure, using material criteria, for reasons of external financing, for the conclusion of public works contracts for the Requalification and Reconversion of the Cities of Cuito and Cunje.<\/p>\n

The order states that the urban roads in the cities of Cuito and the commune of Cunje are in poor condition, without a microdrainage system, sewage collection and treatment system and a precarious water supply network.<\/p>\n

The two locations are interconnected by rail and constitute two urban areas with great potential to become large cities through growth and integrated development.<\/p>\n

At the end of December 2023, the Holder of the Executive Branch authorized the rehabilitation of the section that connects the towns of Cunje, Catabola and Camacupa, on a 71.80 kilometer stretch of National Road 250, in the province of Bie\u0301.<\/p>\n

This road is of great importance for the southern and eastern corridor of the country, as it is the main connection with the Republic of Zambia.<\/p>\n
