Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Supreme Court (TS) restored, this Tuesday, definitive freedom, without conditions, to the former Minister of Transport, Augusto Toma\u0301s.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was released (07) to the press by the spokesperson of this supreme court, Leandro Lopes.<\/p>\n

\u201cA warrant for the release of Augusto Toma\u0301s was issued by the court, which has already been notified this morning, and now he has been released definitively,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Augusto Toma\u0301s had been sentenced, in August 2019, to 14 years in prison, as part of the trial of the National Shippers Council (CNC) case, a sentence which, after an appeal by the defense, was reduced to 8 years, and was under parole, since December 2022.<\/p>\n

He was obliged to reside in Luanda and not leave the country, in addition to paying the total compensation to which he was sentenced.<\/p>\n

Augusto Toma\u0301s was Minister of Transport between 2008 and 2017. He responded in court for the crimes of embezzlement and violation of the rules for implementing the budget plan on an ongoing basis.<\/p>\n

The former ruler also responded in court for the crimes of continued abuse of power and economic participation in a business.<\/p>\n
