Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Patients who go to the Luanda General Hospital with breast complaints will, in the coming days, benefit at zero cost from screening exams with greater precision and effectiveness, to detect breast problems.<\/b><\/p>\n

This achievement is the result of a partnership between the hospital and Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Mulher Contra o Cancro da Mama, taking into account that the latter institution installed a digital mammography unit (a special device that uses X-rays to obtain images of the breasts) in the health unit. .<\/p>\n

Wanda Freire, the president of the foundation, which has a partnership with the hospital for five years, explained that, despite the device being available, since March 28, screening appointments only take place from the second half of this month.<\/p>\n

The public service, explained the president of the foundation, is dependent on training on the handling of digital mammography, which is currently taking place.<\/p>\n

Wanda Freire said that the device was acquired thanks to donations made by some public and private institutions and individuals, who have joined the cause of preventing women’s breast health.<\/p>\n

The official said that the Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Mulher Contra o Cancro da Mama has been working actively to inform, through lectures, about the problem, in order to help women to be prepared and to attend screening appointments.<\/p>\n

In the Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Mulher Contra o Cancro da Mama, which has been in existence for 16 years, dozens of women are registered, including many fighting cancer. Therefore, he considered that the acquisition of the mammography unit is a great gain, as it is an instrument that will help to decongest the floods registered at the National Oncology Center, the only specialist for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer in the country.<\/p>\n
