Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The president of the carnival group Njinga Mbandi, Anto\u0301nio Domingos (Tony Mulato), defended (Thursday), in Luanda, the rescue of typical Angolan traditional dances, with a view to reformulating a more national carnival and attracting tourists for their profitability.<\/b><\/p>\n

In anticipation of Carnival2024, the person responsible said it was necessary to rescue the massemba, the Varina, the Semba, the Cabecinha, the Tchianda and Catutula to be taken to the national stage, where tourists could have contact with the typical dances of the different regions of Angola.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe should go after the carnival that was held in the 80s because it was from this time on that the event began to lose its mystique. Tourists like the folklore of the countries they visit and only in this way can carnival be made profitable\u201d, he stressed.<\/p>\n

Tony Mulato was pleased with the fact that the prize for best classified in class A had increased from three to 15 million Kwanzas, while in the children’s class from two to three million Kwanzas for the children’s class.<\/p>\n

For preparation, each participating group receives from the Provincial Carnival Association (APROCAL) a subsidy of three million Kwanzas for class A, while B pockets one million and five hundred thousand kwanzas and children’s 700 thousand kwanzas.<\/p>\n

The founder of the Njinga Mbandi group also advocates greater investment in the children’s class as it represents the breeding ground for the adult class and is made up of people who will continue the national carnival tradition in the future.<\/p>\n

Regarding participation in Entrudo 2024, he said that everything is going satisfactorily and that the group will pay homage to the traditional dances of Angola, aiming for the top five in the classification with the Cabecinha dance style.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are focused on victory and we just hope that the jury does its job honestly and impartially,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The Njinga Mbandi carnival group was founded on January 22, 1979 in the municipality of Viana, in Luanda. Of the 43 editions in which he participated, he won first place in the 2013 and 2015 editions.<\/p>\n

The 46th edition of the Luanda carnival will feature 44 groups, 13 from class A, the same number from B and 17 from children’s class.<\/p>\n
