Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, clarified this week, in Luanda, that the future Institute of Legal Medicine will be a forensic unit focused on scientific training.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Head of State spoke to the press at the end of a field trip, which marked the political news of the last seven days.<\/p>\n

It took the Head of State to the Hospital Geral dos Cajueiros, in Cazenga, and to the future Institute of Legal Medicine, in Camama, having noted, in the latter, some slowdown in the pace of work.<\/p>\n

Regarding the institute, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o said that the Executive is planning a unit aimed at training and also to meet the needs of the Police, as the unit will be useful whenever there are cases of deaths with criminal signs.<\/p>\n

“Judging by the number of drawers that the infrastructure will have, around 200, it will certainly end up also performing the function of a morgue, taking into account the conditions in which municipal morgues still find themselves,” he said.<\/p>\n

Also this week, the statesman authorized the requalification works in the city of Cuito and the commune of Cunje (Bie\u0301), with expenses estimated at 202.8 billion kwanzas.<\/p>\n

According to Presidential Order No. 46\/24, of February 2, an amount of 5.3 billion kwanzas was authorized for inspection services.<\/p>\n

In the diplomatic domain, the statesman received the UN special envoy for the Great Lakes Region, Huang Xia, who upon leaving the meeting expressed his commitment to working with the Angolan authorities and the entire region to achieve peace.<\/p>\n

The President of Namibia, Hage Geingob, died in the early hours of Sunday due to illness, at the age of 82.<\/p>\n

In the legislative domain, the National Assembly (AN) generally approved the Proposed Law on Anti-Doping in Sports, with 176 votes in favor, no votes against and no abstentions.<\/p>\n

The Diploma contains, among other matters, the prohibition of doping, the practitioner’s responsibilities, the list of prohibited substances and methods, control access during and outside sporting competitions and the athlete’s medical treatment.<\/p>\n

Also noteworthy are the discussions, in particular, of the Bill to amend the Parliament’s structure, which is based on transparency, equity and efficiency of services.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, as part of the discussion of the bill in question, the president of the Board of Directors of the National Assembly (AN), Susana de Melo, pointed out that the current challenges facing the legislative body are increasingly demanding, having taking into account the development of democracy itself.<\/p>\n

Press also reported the hearing that the President of the National Assembly (AN), Carolina Cerqueira, granted to the president of UNITA, Adalberto Costa Ju\u0301nior, to address aspects relating to the challenges of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP).<\/p>\n

After reading, the defense represented by lawyer Joa\u0303o Gourgel made some objections, having suggested the introduction of four questions and the amendment of one, totaling 80 questions with a direct link to the matter contained in the case file and discussed during the trial.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the Supreme Court rejected the appeal of the ruling regarding the contradictory investigation process of the criminal case involving the former director of the National Reconstruction Office (GNR), Manuel He\u0301lder Vieira Dias “Kopelipa”, accused by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of six crimes.<\/p>\n

The indictment was issued on December 20th, and the defense appealed.<\/p>\n

Another headline was the restoration of definitive freedom to the former Minister of Transport, Augusto Toma\u0301s.<\/p>\n

In the province of Cuanza-Sul, where he led the central event of the 4th of February celebrations, the Minister of National Defense and Veterans of the Country, Joa\u0303o Ernesto dos Santos, defended the eradication of corruption, with a view to the development and social growth of the country.<\/p>\n
