Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Ambassador Maria Ca\u0302ndida Teixeira was accredited this Monday, in the Guatemalan capital, as head of the Angolan diplomatic mission in Guatemala, with non-resident status. <\/b><\/p>\n

The Angolan diplomat presented her letters of credentials to the President of that Central American country, Ce\u0301sar Are\u0301valo, in a ceremony at the Presidential Palace of Culture in Guatemala City.<\/p>\n

Moments after the ceremony, according to a press release, Maria Ca\u0302ndida Teixeira met with the Guatemalan president to convey a message of congratulations from President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o on his victory in the general elections last August.<\/p>\n

The accreditation of the Angolan diplomat was preceded by the delivery of figurative letters to the vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Maria Luisa Ramirez.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, he delivered a message from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tete Anto\u0301nio, to his counterpart, Ramiro Alvarado, in which he expressed the intention of close cooperation and the promotion of democracy, as well as the preservation of peace and international stability.<\/p>\n

In addition to Guatemala, with permanent residence in Havana, Cuba, Maria Ca\u0302ndida Teixeira is an ambassador with non-resident status in the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Panama and Costa Rica.<\/p>\n

The Angolan diplomat is expected to present Letters of Credentials in El Salvador, Honduras and Haiti in the near future.<\/p>\n

Diplomatic relations between Angola and Guatemala were formally established on September 22, 2023, during the High Level week of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, in New York.<\/p>\n

At the time, a Memorandum was initialed with a view to promoting bilateral cooperation in various sectors.<\/p>\n

Guatemala is a country in Central America known for its productive potential with more than 18 million inhabitants, it borders Mexico to the south, and its economy is one of the largest in the region, predominantly based on agriculture.<\/p>\n
