Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Carrinho Industrial Complex, located on the outskirts of the municipality of Benguela, reached, in 2023, a production of around twenty-five percent of its installed capacity, of 1.5 million various products per year.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, its executive director, De\u0301cio Catarro, stated that the fact was due to some imports that the Complex still depends on.<\/p>\n

The prospects for 2024 point to a target of above forty percent of its production capacity for wheat flour, corn, cooking oil, margarine, among others, according to De\u0301cio Catarro.<\/p>\n

He guaranteed that twenty percent of the raw material to be used will be nationally produced.<\/p>\n

“We are managing to make people understand that in Angola it is also possible to produce what we see in other countries”, he stated.<\/p>\n

In relation to the agricultural sector, he explained that the projection of the factories, seven years ago, was based on the country’s agricultural potential.<\/p>\n

“In 2023, corn was our biggest imbalance, although we also produce soybeans, beans and rice,” he stated.<\/p>\n

The manager informed that an oil extraction factory is being built that will essentially use soybeans and sunflower grains that will be used in the Refinery that is already in service.<\/p>\n

“Last year, we worked with just over 50 thousand families in the countryside, in the provinces of Malanje, Benguela, Hui\u0301la, Huambo, Bie\u0301 and Cuanza Sul, and, at the moment, we have around 150 thousand, significantly increasing the amount of materials -raw materials for the factory”, he emphasized.<\/p>\n

Asked about farmers’ complaints about prices, he said that “across the world they are a reflection of the binomial supply and demand”.<\/p>\n

“As long as there is not enough agricultural production to stabilize the market, there will always be some fluctuation”, he stressed.<\/p>\n

Regarding the objective of achieving food self-sufficiency in 2030, De\u0301cio Catarro recalled that financing for investments has been very difficult internally.<\/p>\n

Therefore, “we are looking for international financial entities, those that also invest in Angola and Africa, as a country and continent of the future”, he considered.<\/p>\n

Regarding employability, he reported that the Complex currently has 1,850 workers who work 24 hours a day, throughout the month, despite the lines not being 100% occupied.<\/p>\n

The Carrinho Industrial Complex is located in the Taka neighborhood, in Benguela.<\/p>\n

It has seventeen factories, totaling an installed capacity of 1.5 million tons, producing over twenty different products in the basic basket.<\/p>\n
