Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, this Thursday urged greater attention to school sports, as it is the hotbed of federated sport.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Head of State was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the new Minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falca\u0303o Pinto de Andrade, appointed on Wednesday to replace Palmira Barbosa.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o advised better preparation for Angolan athletes, anticipating good results in upcoming challenges, such as the next African Nations Championship (CAN).<\/p>\n

Likewise, President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o recommended attention to the maintenance and management of sports infrastructures built in the country.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o also considered it necessary for the country to recover its splendor in sports such as basketball, and maintain its results in handball, particularly women’s, without neglecting other sports.<\/p>\n

In his speech, he mentioned that culture and sport are important for the life of any nation.<\/p>\n

Infrastructure situation<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falca\u0303o, proposes to carry out a real survey of the situation of sports infrastructures in the country.<\/p>\n

He spoke of the need to work on an \u201cinfrastructure management profile\u201d, establishing partnerships in some cases, given the large volume and resources required for its maintenance.<\/p>\n

He valued the call for the massification of school sports, given the positive results achieved, such as “Os cac\u0327ulinhas da ball” (football tournament), as well as establishing policies to relaunch school sports.<\/p>\n

Rui Falca\u0303o also referred to the need to require federations to provide timely preparation programs.<\/p>\n

Appointed Wednesday by the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, Rui Falca\u0303o was Secretary for Information of the MPLA Political Bureau and replaces Palmira Barbosa in the position.<\/p>\n

Rui Falca\u0303o has already held the positions of deputy to the National Assembly, governor of the provinces of Benguela and Namibe, as well as national director of the Department of the State Secretariat for Physical Education and Sports, among others.<\/p>\n

In the period from 1991 to 1992, the department was led by Osvaldo de Jesus Serra Van-Du\u0301nem, followed by Justino Fernandes (1992-1995), Marcos Barrica (1999-2008), Gonc\u0327alves Muandumba (2008-2016), Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto (2017-2022), Palmira Barbosa (2022-2024) and Rui Falca\u0303o (2024…).<\/p>\n
