Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The economic and social situation of former combatants requires improvement and continues to fall short of the needs of this group, considered (Friday), the secretary general of the Federation of Former Combatants and Veterans of the Country of Angola, Vicente Ju\u0301nior.<\/b><\/p>\n

On the sidelines of the Consultative Council of the Association of Former Combatants of the National Front for the Liberation of Angola (FNLA), held in Cacuaco, the association leader acknowledged that there is dialogue between the association and the Executive, whose process aims to improve conditions of the people who fought for the freedom of the Angolan people.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that they are still far from what is desired by everyone, having, however, highlighted that there is interest on the part of the government structure in improving the situation of Angola’s former combatants.<\/p>\n

Next, Vicente Ju\u0301nior said there was a need to reevaluate the model for addressing the needs of former combatants and veterans of the country, an issue that includes, according to him, free access to certain services.<\/p>\n

From another perspective, the official recalled that the re-registration process for former combatants continues, with the aim of detecting false pensioners.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis process is being undertaken by the Executive, in association with this federation, where the idea is related to the progressive improvement of the social and economic situation of former combatants and veterans of the country\u201d, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

The Federation of Former Combatants and Veterans of the Country of Angola was founded in 2011 and brings together more than 30 associations defending the rights of this fringe.<\/p>\n

According to article number eight of the Former Combatant Law, all members involved in the national liberation struggle, regardless of whether or not they have any employment relationship, are entitled to a monthly pension, currently around 23 thousand kwanzas.<\/p>\n
