Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Two thousand families were left homeless in the municipality of Malanje, from November 2023 to February 16 of this year, as a result of the heavy rains that fell over the region.<\/b><\/p>\n

The data was presented Sunday, by the municipal administrator of Malanje, Fernandes Cristo\u0301va\u0303o, on the sidelines of a visit by the provincial governor, Marcos Nhunga, to the Quizanga and Vila Matilde neighborhoods and some arteries of the city, with a view to assessing the damage caused by the rains.<\/p>\n

He pointed out the Quizanga, Vila Matilde, Carreira de Tiro, Cana\u0302mbua, Camoma and Zela neighborhoods as being the most affected, adding that some of the victims are temporarily housed in the Pavilha\u0303o Palanca Negra and in rented and family homes, while they wait for solutions. from the government.<\/p>\n

In this sense, he pointed out that the Municipal Administration of Malanje already has land allocated in the Quiriri neighborhood and zinc sheets to be distributed to victims within a few days, so that they can build their homes.<\/p>\n

In the first phase, he said, it is estimated to support 365 families, 165 of which will be provided by the Municipal Administration and 200 by the Red Cross of Angola (CVA), as part of its emergency plan to respond to the impact of floods in the province.<\/p>\n

Fernandes Cristo\u0301va\u0303o said work is also underway to lower the embankments on Rua Comandante Dangereux and clean the gutters throughout the city, with a view to facilitating the drainage of rainwater.<\/p>\n

Associated with this, actions are taking place to combat construction in risk areas, involving various sectors, as well as traditional authorities and residents’ committees.<\/p>\n
