Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The current leader of the Social Renewal Party (PRS), Benedito Daniel, will run alone for leadership of the political formation at the V Ordinary Congress, scheduled for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of April, with the participation of more than a thousand delegates in Luanda.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to Jornal de Angola, in its edition this Tuesday, the candidacy of the former deputy for the PRS parliamentary bench, Sapalo Anto\u0301nio, and the youth leader of political formation, Gaspar Fernandes, were both removed from competition for the future election party president.<\/p>\n

According to Ndoji Vieira, coordinator of the National Preparatory Committee for the V Ordinary Congress of the PRS, cited by the daily, the candidacy of activist Sapalo Anto\u0301nio was rejected due to the candidate having been demoted from the category of member of the Political Council, for an attempt to create a political party.<\/p>\n

Regarding the candidacy of Gaspar Fernandes, the party’s youth leader, Ndoji Vieira assured that the candidacy was also not accepted, due to the fact that he did not have more than 15 years of party membership.<\/p>\n

Cla\u0301udio Ricai, spokesman for the candidacy of former deputy Sapalo Anto\u0301nio, stated that, in fact, they were already prepared for the “lead”, since, in his opinion, a “tailor-made coat” had been prepared for Mr. Benedito Daniel.<\/p>\n

According to the source, the outgoing president knows that, if he competes with other candidates, he runs the risk of losing, which is why they sought all the elements that are not part of the statutes, to reject the other candidacies.<\/p>\n

“We expected the PRS to set an example of democracy, but here it shows that it is a party that is working to bring down democracy in the country”, he said.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson for Sapalo Anto\u0301nio’s candidacy also revealed that his team has already presented the precautionary measure with the Constitutional Court, in order to challenge the V Congress of the PRS, scheduled for next April.<\/p>\n

In the same vein, Alberto Quinhumba, representative of the candidate Gaspar Fernandes, equally “failed”, emphasized that they already had this in their imagination, taking into account the fear of the candidate Benedito Daniel.<\/p>\n

“They brought up an article that talks about the time a candidate must have to run. And the same line does not say that we have to wait for the month and day in which the candidate completes these years”, he clarified.<\/p>\n

The PRS is a political party with representation in the National Assembly founded in 1990. The Party defines itself as center-left with a federalist and progressive ideology.<\/p>\n

In the last elections, held on August 24, 2022, according to definitive results, the PRS obtained 1.14 percent, 71 thousand 351 votes (02 deputies).<\/p>\n
