Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Grupo Carrinho launched, this Wednesday, a Food Recovery Program, with the aim of reusing and distributing food close to its expiration date to communities ravaged by hunger across the country.<\/b><\/p>\n

To implement this initiative, Grupo Carrinho signed a memorandum that establishes a partnership with the Evangelical Congregational Church in Angola (IECA), responsible for the process of distributing reused food in the provinces of Benguela, Huambo and Bie\u0301.<\/p>\n

The event took place at the Carrinho Industrial Complex, in Benguela, and the memorandum was signed by the non-executive director of this business group, Samuel Candundo, and the general secretary of IECA, Andre\u0301 Cangovi Eurico.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, the non-executive director of Grupo Carrinho, Samuel Candundo, revealed that the program made available 900 tons of beans that will be delivered to needy families in the aforementioned provinces.<\/p>\n

According to the person responsible, thanks to the Food Recovery Program, processed products that are on the verge of expiry or are discarded for sale will be supplied to communities facing hunger.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhenever there is a product on the shelves, it is removed immediately before it reaches its expiry date and delivered to those who need it\u201d, he stressed, believing that many people will benefit from the Carrinho initiative, which aims, in essence, to create a food distribution network in each province.<\/p>\n

It accounts for food, such as rice, cornmeal, beans, sugar and oil that are discarded in the manufacturing unit, since in the Food Industry there are parameters that must be met and, above all, due to the proximity of the expiration date, but which are in good condition. for consumption.<\/p>\n

For him, at a time when the country is facing difficulties, this program will allow food like these, which cannot be sold, not to be wasted.<\/p>\n

He highlighted, on the other hand, the partnership signed with the Evangelical Congregational Church in Angola, to manage the distribution of food products destined for people in need in the provinces of Benguela, Bie\u0301 and Huambo.<\/p>\n

Samuel Candundo gave guarantees that Grupo Carrinho will work to maintain this program, aiming to take advantage of products close to their expiration date, to alleviate the food needs of people in need.<\/p>\n

In addition to IECA, he explained that the program also involves other religious denominations, such as the Adventist, Catholic, IESA, IEBA and Methodist churches, which will manage the process in other regions of the country.<\/p>\n

With more than five thousand employees, Grupo Carrinho owns the Industrial Complex, opened in 2019, with 17 factories, with the aim of promoting national production.<\/p>\n
