Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The president of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, declared, this Wednesday, in Luanda, that the African, Caribbean and Pacific States and the European Union (OEACP-EU) made history by laying the new foundations in the equal partnership, based in an institutional structure in favor of the people.<\/b><\/p>\n

The leader of the Angolan Parliament was speaking at the opening ceremony of the 1st OEACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Plenary Session, within the scope of the new Samoa Agreement.<\/p>\n

“I am convinced that we made history and laid new foundations in the equal partnership based on a new institutional structure, but which maintains the same focus, the same cohesion and the same determination to do more and better with resilience in favor of our people”, he expressed.<\/p>\n

According to the president of AN, the 416 delegates who met in this hemicycle, from the 17th to the 21st of this month, were able to interpret the will of the people they represent through the global commitment to preserving and promoting the non-negotiable value of peace and tolerance.<\/p>\n

He considered these assumptions as the fundamental path to equity, social justice, good governance and social and human development for all.<\/p>\n

He indicated that, with this vision, it is urgent to establish bridges, paths and mechanisms to strengthen the partnership between peoples through a new dynamic of parity relations and a more inclusive framework and broad articulation of the purposes of States.<\/p>\n

Carolina Cerqueira said it was necessary to articulate a standard that values \u200b\u200bthe dignity of the human person and based on a joint holistic vision to face the complex challenges posed by the current global geopolitical situation.<\/p>\n

He argued that the voice of parliamentarians, more than ever, must assert itself as a herald of peace, tolerance, concord, and dialogue from a common perspective, “despite the diversity of each of the realities of our countries”.<\/p>\n

According to the leader of the Angolan Parliament, the spirit and purpose of the future partnership between the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States and the European Union, now relaunched by the Samoa agreement, contains within itself the ideal of relations between peoples for strengthening democracy and respect for human rights”.<\/p>\n

In another area, he said that the complexity of global political issues, the financial crisis and its effects on national economies, climate change, energy crisis, food and nutritional security, gender equality, combating poverty, social inclusion, combating corruption and human trafficking, among others, have occupied the agendas of States and constitute hope for improving the lives of the population.<\/p>\n

“Ours is the human potential based on the millions of young people and women who represent a significant segment of the world’s population and who expect a lot from us, initiatives that can contribute through the use of human, natural and technological resources in promoting the sustainable development of our countries “, he stressed.<\/p>\n

He noted that these and other actions motivated the preparation of the event, in response to a request from the Joint Parliamentary Assembly to the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, to create the necessary human and material conditions to hold this event in the country.<\/p>\n

“We are proud of having brought together and interpreted the ideals of each and every one of us and the merit goes to the delegates, from all over the world, who made this magnificent event possible, despite the cultural and geographical diversity that separates us, but unites us in our purposes”, he concluded.<\/p>\n
