{"id":56890,"date":"2024-02-24T18:32:25","date_gmt":"2024-02-24T18:32:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/?p=56890"},"modified":"2024-02-24T16:14:31","modified_gmt":"2024-02-24T16:14:31","slug":"civil-society-defends-more-investment-in-infrastructure-in-cunene","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/civil-society-defends-more-investment-in-infrastructure-in-cunene","title":{"rendered":"Civil society defends more investment in infrastructure in Cunene"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola. <\/strong><\/span><b>Members of civil society in the province of Cunene, advocated, on Friday, in Ondjiva, the need for greater investment in road and school infrastructure, for the social and economic development of the region.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Traditional, ecclesiastical and young authorities expressed this request during the separate hearing with the Minister of Territorial Administration, Dioni\u0301sio da Fonseca, who is on a two-day working visit to Cunene.<\/p>\n<p>On the occasion, upon leaving the meeting, the Vicar General of the Diocese of Ondjiva, Nicasio Kongeniseni, highlighted that he discussed with the minister the need to urgently improve roads in the province.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe MAT holder took note of other concerns that most afflict the population of Cunene, such as the construction of more schools, an increase in teachers, among other problems in the communities,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>The king of Ombala ya Naluheke, Ma\u0301rio Satipamba, said he also spoke of the need for the government to invest more in the rehabilitation of communication routes in the city center and villages, to allow better movement of people and goods.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that another need is to increase secondary education institutions, to shorten the distances that many children travel.<\/p>\n<p>Ma\u0301rio Satipamba highlighted that they also requested expansion of water to populations furthest from the canal, as well as the placement of new crossings, as those that exist are five kilometers apart.<\/p>\n<p>The representative of the reign of Oukwanhama, Elias Satiohamba, said that he raised the issue of the Law on the Institutionalization of Traditional Power with the minister, with a view to its approval, for better functioning before the bodies of the State&#8217;s Local Administration.<\/p>\n<p>Another point discussed, he said, is about the new Administrative Political Division, especially some names included in the proposal that should be maintained, but the minister accepts that they be proposed locally instead of Luanda.<\/p>\n<p>The secretary of the Provincial Youth Council in Cunene, Praia Chivela, said that he addressed the issues that affect young people, from employability, housing, connection lines between municipalities and public transport.<\/p>\n<p>He mentioned that he also requested the possibility of introducing second-hand vehicles to boost taxi service in the region, which is more dominated by motorbikes, as well as creating ease in granting land titles for young people who want to invest in agricultural production.<\/p>\n<p>Members of civil society stated that in view of these concerns presented, the Minister of Territorial Administration, Dioni\u0301sio da Fonseca, guaranteed that they will be analyzed to merit the appropriate solution.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Territorial Administration, Dioni\u0301sio da Fonseca, has been on a two-day working visit to the province of Cunene since this Thursday, to assess the progress of some projects linked to the Integrated Plan for Intervention in the Municipality (PIIM).<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\">Angola<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola.
