Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The official visit made by the Head of State, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, to the Czech Republic to increase cooperation in various areas, marked the political news last week.<\/b><\/p>\n

Angola and the Czech Republic signed, in Prague, a Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations that aims to reinforce bilateral cooperation, which began in 1993.<\/p>\n

The moment was witnessed by the leaders of the two countries, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o and Petra Pavel respectively, after both had held a private meeting.<\/p>\n

During his two-day stay, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o visited the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies and also held a meeting with the Czech Prime Minister, Petr Fiala, as well as the Angolan community in that Eastern European country.<\/p>\n

The week was also marked by the presence, in Windhoek, of the Angolan President, at the funeral of Hage Geingob who passed away on 4 February, at the age of 82, a victim of cancer.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, also acting president of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), said that this is a deeply sad occurrence for all of Africa, the southern region of the African continent and, especially, Namibia.<\/p>\n

It was echoed in the opening week of the 1st Joint Parliamentary Plenary Session of the OEACP-EU, which was attended by the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperanc\u0327a da Costa.<\/p>\n

During the opening ceremony, the official advocated that the Joint Parliamentary Assembly of African, Caribbean and Pacific States and the European Union (ACP-EU) intensify the debate on development, with emphasis on economic partnership agreements.<\/p>\n

He argued that Economic Partnership agreements constitute a lever for technological development, transformation of food systems, increased trade and promotion of the blue economy and sustainable development.<\/p>\n

On the same occasion, the President of the National Assembly (AN), Carolina Cerqueira, declared that the member states made history by laying the new foundations for the equal partnership, based on an institutional structure in favor of the people.<\/p>\n

He argued that the OEACP-UE maintains the same focus, the same cohesion and the same determination to do more and better with resilience for the well-being of people.<\/p>\n

The highlight of the week was the hearings that the Vice-President of the Republic held with the Secretary General of the OEACP, Georges Chicoty, and the European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen.<\/p>\n

The highlight of the week is Angola’s participation, as an observer, in the meeting of G20 Foreign Ministers that took place in Rio de Janeiro, focused, among other issues, on resolving conflicts in Palestine and Ukraine, as well as reform of global governance.<\/p>\n

The Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Jose\u0301 Massano, defended in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, that world peace is essential for the development of any State and, consequently, the globe.<\/p>\n

The Angolan government official, who spoke at the opening session of the G-20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, said “there is no peace without development and there is no development without peace”.<\/p>\n
