Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Angolan ambassador to the United Kingdom, Geraldo Nunda, defended, this Saturday, the need to produce more literary works about the heroic act of February 4, 1961.<\/b><\/p>\n

The diplomat was speaking in an online lecture alluding to the anniversary of February 4, 1961, the date of the beginning of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation.<\/p>\n

He recalled that daily actions towards the country’s development must be carried out with everyone’s commitment and awareness of the true importance of the historic date.<\/p>\n

According to the diplomat, it is necessary to mobilize support for the publication of testimonies from the survivors of the 4th of February.<\/p>\n

The ambassador recalled that the date represents the raising of machetes with open chests, where nationalists faced the apparatus of domination and repression built by the colonial regime.<\/p>\n

At the time, the only woman who participated in the 4th of February, Engra\u0301cia Cabenha, said that the assault was “very well organized”, having mobilized more than three thousand men and that, as the only woman, her tasks included the mission to prepare combatants spiritually and materially.<\/p>\n

\u201cPraying and talking to God were inspiring factors for the bravery of the nationalists who participated in the armed struggle\u201d, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

For his part, nationalist Pedro Van-Du\u0301nem recalled that the first nucleus was the process group 50, arrested by PIDE in 1959, and then the cell of 36 until reaching the third cell, reactivated and led by nationalist Paiva Domingos da Silva, in June 1960, until the act of February 4, 1961.<\/p>\n

The webinar on the 4th of February also included the participation of lieutenant generals for reform Amadeu Martins and Agostinho Ina\u0301cio, as well as young students and members of the Angolan community from the United Kingdom and other regions of the world.<\/p>\n
