Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The 2nd General Commander of the National Police (PN), chief commissioner Domingos Ferreira de Andrade, reiterated Monday, in the city of Menongue, province of Cuando Cubango, the ongoing work to improve infrastructure for accommodation of staff and guaranteeing the public safety of citizens.<\/b><\/p>\n

The person in charge was speaking to the press at the end of the inauguration of the Police Station in the Pandera neighborhood, called Jorge Antunes \u201cJojo\u0302\u201d, in honor, posthumously, of the former provincial commander of the PN, in the period between 1992 and 1994.<\/p>\n

According to the 2nd general commander of the PN, improving infrastructure brings several benefits, ranging from the quality of service provided to citizens, as well as greater operability and capacity to respond to public security needs.<\/p>\n

However, there are still many challenges in providing a more effective response to citizens’ calls.<\/p>\n

He considered that, with the new infrastructure, the territory and operational space are better controlled, as it guarantees the population the existence of a more active police and more effective service, with a view to combating different crimes, with emphasis on vandalism of public property.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the 2nd general commander considered the work that has been carried out by the PN to be positive, as it has been able to provide timely responses in all situations in which it is called upon to intervene.<\/p>\n

The inauguration of this police station is part of the 48th anniversary celebrations of the PN, to be celebrated on February 28th, as well as the strategic plan drawn up for the five-year period 2023\/2028, which foresees, among other actions, the standardization of the country’s police stations.<\/p>\n

For his part, the governor of Cuando Cubango, Jose\u0301 Martins, stated that the province has tourism potential that must be expanded and better utilized, therefore, the State works in advance to guarantee the conditions that will bring a feeling of security to all those who visit the province in the context of domestic tourism.<\/p>\n

He stated that the establishment of proximity policing, with the construction and equipping of police stations within the neighborhoods, will allow tourists and potential investors to visit the province and leave without any fear of suffering a robbery or any other unsatisfactory situation.<\/p>\n

The governor assured that the government’s efforts will continue to improve the Border Guard Police units in Cuando Cubango, so that they can properly carry out their duties.<\/p>\n

With this structure, three new police stations are now fully equipped, in a combination of synergies between the General Command of the National Police and the Government of Cuando Cubango.<\/p>\n

Built over a period of one year, the police station has a nucleus for the Criminal Investigation Department, administrative area, paddock, male and female barracks, meeting room, operations and information nucleus, cafeteria, kitchen, logistics, among other compartments.<\/p>\n
