Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Esmeralda Mendonc\u0327a, stated, this Monday, in Geneva (Switzerland), that the Human Rights Council and other institutions of the United Nations System must continue to follow the path towards achieving effective access to all rights of people with disabilities.<\/b><\/p>\n

During her speech at the 55th Session of the Human Rights Council, Esmeralda Mendonc\u0327a highlighted the need for a joint effort to guarantee the full participation and inclusion of people with disabilities in society.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs stated that the three approaches outlined in the United Nations Strategy for the inclusion of people with disabilities, namely citizenship, equality and non-discrimination, are equally relevant for the integration of the rights of people with disabilities. disability at national level.<\/p>\n

“As a State Party to the Convention and where people with disabilities represent 2.5% of the population, Angola is committed to implementing the recommendations issued by the committee through a follow-up strategy, parallel to the National Plan for inclusion and support for people with disabilities disability 2023 – 2027”, said the head of the Angolan delegation.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that this program covers a series of actions that aim to promote greater inclusion of people with disabilities in all sectors of Angolan society, including the establishment of mechanisms for collecting data and reporting cases of discrimination, as well as support and social reintegration of families that have members with disabilities.<\/p>\n

Esmeralda Mendonc\u0327a also reiterated Angola’s commitment to promoting and protecting the rights of people with disabilities, emphasizing the importance of building an inclusive and accessible society for all Angolan citizens.<\/p>\n

This Monday’s high-level panel had as its central theme “Taking advantage of multilateral efforts to incorporate, expand and realize the rights of people with disabilities, with a focus on full participation and inclusion in society”.<\/p>\n
