Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The level of bilateral cooperation between Angola and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) was analyzed this Tuesday, in Luanda, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, T\u00e9te Ant\u00f3nio, and by the director of the Division for Africa, Countries in Development and Special Programs at that institution, Paul Akiwumi.<\/b><\/p>\n

The two individuals met at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX), in downtown Luanda, where they reviewed the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and implementation in the productive sector, in addition to discussing the possibility of visiting Angola by Isabelle Durant, the organization’s secretary general.<\/p>\n

Paul Akiwumi has been in Luanda since Tuesday morning, leading a delegation from the organization within the scope of Angola’s graduation process from the LDC (Least Advanced Country) category to the Middle Income Country (MRP) category. ).<\/p>\n

In addition, it will participate, at the National School of Administration and Public Policies (ENAPP), in a seminar to discuss the specific elements for Angola’s Soft Transition Strategy (ETS), in line with the Government’s strategies and the SDGs.<\/p>\n

UNCTAD, in partnership with the United Nations System and the European Union, supports the Government of Angola in the process of graduation from the PMA category.<\/p>\n

According to a press release from MIREX, in Angola, the graduation process is coordinated by the Ministry of Economy and Planning, assisted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the occasional inclusion of other relevant national sectors.<\/p>\n

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development was created in 1964 with a view to integrating developing countries into the world economy and contributing to the eradication of poverty.<\/p>\n

Together with other UN departments and agencies, it measures progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals as set out in the 2030 Agenda.<\/p>\n

UNCTAD is headquartered in Geneva (Switzerland) and has representations in New York (United States of America) and Addis Ababa (Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia). It currently has 195 member countries.<\/p>\n
