Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The special representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and head of the UN Regional Office for Central Africa, Fran\u00e7ois Lounceny Fall, recognized yesterday the efforts that President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o has made to achieve and maintain peace in Central African regions. and the Great Lakes.<\/b><\/p>\n

The recognition was expressed at the end of a working meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, T\u00e9te Ant\u00f3nio, and the resident coordinator of the United Nations System, at the headquarters of Angolan diplomacy.<\/p>\n

Fran\u00e7ois Fall recognized that Angola plays a very important role at various levels in the continent’s birthplace: “The visit is very important for me, taking into account that I will leave the Regional Directorate next month. Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o for all the support I had, while running the Regional Office, as well as the support that my employees had”.<\/p>\n

The special representative of Ant\u00f3nio Guterres for Central Africa expressed his satisfaction with the work carried out by the president of the Commission of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), the Angolan Gilberto Ver\u00edssimo. “We rejoice, because we know that whoever is running the ECCAS is an Angolan and we are grateful for that”, he said.<\/p>\n

The head of Angolan diplomacy said that at the meeting, behind closed doors, Fran\u00e7ois Fall also highlighted the country’s role in the reform of ECCAS.<\/p>\n

The official praised the new dynamics implemented in the organization as a result of this reform, as well as the positive collaboration between the special representative and the chairman of the ECCAS Commission.<\/p>\n

T\u00e9te Ant\u00f3nio recalled that, since the reforms, the Community of Economic States of Central Africa has been considered a valid and almost mandatory interlocutor when it comes to issues in this region.<\/p>\n

The minister recalled that Fran\u00e7ois Fall was also responsible for organizing the meetings of the United Nations advisory committee on peace and security issues in Central Africa.<\/p>\n

“While ECCAS was weak, it was this forum that dealt with all issues of peace and security in Central Africa. But the strengthening of the community did not take away the Committee’s strengths. On the contrary, it reinforced the work that it has been doing, having taking into account his personality and experience”, he clarified.<\/p>\n

According to T\u00e9te Ant\u00f3nio, Fran\u00e7ois Fall is a long-time diplomat with vast experience. He has directed his country’s diplomacy and has held positions as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Prime Minister.<\/p>\n

The special representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and head of the UN Offices for Central Africa, during his mandate, watched over the functioning of the regional organization and all issues of peace and security in this part of the continent.<\/p>\n
