Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Head of State, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, analyzed, Wednesday (6), in Luanda, with the African Union (AU) Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Bankole Adeoye, the preparation of the Summit on Terrorism and Unconstitutional Changes of Regimes in Africa, scheduled for next May, in Malabo (Equatorial Guinea), at the proposal of the Angolan President.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the AU ambassador, received in audience by President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, the Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union will deal with issues related to the fight against terrorism and the unconstitutional change of power in African countries.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, the Nigerian diplomat at the service of the AU said that the holding of the Summit is based on Angola’s experience, in the sense of promoting peace, social cohesion and reconciliation in African States.<\/p>\n

Bankole Adeoye said that the occasion served to address the role played by Angola, in the southern region of Africa, in terms of promoting peace, security and democracy.<\/p>\n

In the context of promoting democracy, he said that he discussed with President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o the availability of the African Union to participate as an observer in the next general elections to be held in the country, in August this year.<\/p>\n

“We are very pleased to receive guarantees from the Angolan authorities to continue working with the AU to promote peace, stability and good governance, on the continent, for the benefit of African peoples and humanity”, said the diplomat, quoted by the Angop. For the commissioner, the most important thing is the expected success of the Malabo Summit, led by Angola, through the personal engagement of President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, and supported by his continental counterparts.<\/p>\n

Support from Caixa Geral de Dep\u00f3sitos<\/b><\/p>\n

The President of the Commission An executive at Caixa Geral de Dep\u00f3sitos (CGD) in Portugal, Paulo Moita Macedo, yesterday in Luanda expressed the intention of the financial institution to continue supporting infrastructure construction projects in Angola.<\/p>\n

Speaking to journalists after an audience granted to him by President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, Paulo Macedo reaffirmed the importance of the Angolan market: “We will continue the partnership. There are several projects in our portfolio, linked to infrastructure. We will study and analyze them “.<\/p>\n

He said that the visit to Angola has several objectives, including greeting the Head of State and the bank’s plans to continue to grow organically in the country.<\/p>\n

In the view of the chairman of the bank’s Executive Committee, Angola plays an important role in Grupo Caixa, “since there are Portuguese companies, there is a Portuguese community, there is a role to play here”.<\/p>\n

CGD, as a shareholder of Banco Caixa Geral de Angola, after a period of recapitalization and restructuring, maintained its presence in Angola. The recapitalization of Caixa Geral de Dep\u00f3sitos de Portugal cost 4,900 million euros, explained Paulo Macedo.<\/p>\n

Head of Portuguese diplomacy visits Angola<\/b><\/p>\n

The Portuguese ambassador to Angola, Francisco Alegre, announced yesterday that his country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs would visit Luanda next week for a two-day visit, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.<\/p>\n

At the end of an audience granted by the Head of State to the executive chairman of Caixa Geral de Dep\u00f3sitos de Portugal, Paulo Macedo, in which the ambassador witnessed the talks, he explained that Jo\u00e3o Gomes Cravinho will be in the Angolan capital from the 12th to the 13th of this month.<\/p>\n
