Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The presidents of the National Assembly of Angola, Carolina Cerqueira, and of the Senate of Brazil, Rodrigo Pacheco, analyzed, this Monday, in Brasi\u0301lia, the current state of parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to a note sent, in Luanda, the bilateral meeting took place on the sidelines of the celebrations of the bicentenary of the Brazilian Federal Senate, which is being celebrated.<\/p>\n

The discussion’s epicenter was the increase in parliamentary relations, the need for greater exchange and the exchange of experience between the two institutions.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, Carolina Cerqueira invited the president of the Brazilian Senate to visit Angola, in the second half of the current year, an invitation that was accepted “with great satisfaction”.<\/p>\n

Speaking to TVSenado, Carolina Cerqueira stressed that the meeting served to review the current state of cooperation between the two countries in the parliamentary field.<\/p>\n

Issues related to peace, the energy crisis, the climate agenda, nutritional and food defense and security and legislative action were analyzed, for the creation of laws and standards for the benefit of populations and for the common good.<\/p>\n

Also this Monday, the Angolan delegation participated in a master class on “Politics in the digital society”, attended by Manuel Castells, professor at the Universities of Southern California, Berkeley, Mit, Oxford and Cambridge.<\/p>\n

The class, part of the celebration program for the bicentenary of the Senate of Brazil, opened the International Seminar on Democracy and New Technologies – Challenges of the Digital Era, which will run until March 27th, with the presentation of several panels linked to the theme.<\/p>\n

The speaker spoke about the characteristics of communication in the digital age, the risks of misinformation, the need for regulation to preserve voters’ autonomy and the quality of democracy.<\/p>\n

The president of the Brazilian Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco, who spoke at the opening of the seminar, said that the digital era imposes new challenges that require the continuous promotion of debates, spaces for dialogue that are fundamental for the stability and consolidation of democracies.<\/p>\n

The Angolan delegation participated in the solemn session commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Brazilian Senate.<\/p>\n
