Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Yesterday, Angola and India signed three legal instruments to strengthen bilateral exchanges and the level of cooperation between them, with emphasis on visa-free diplomatic and service passports, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.<\/b><\/p>\n

This is the Agreement on the Exemption of Visas for Holders of Diplomatic, Official and Service Passports; Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Health of Angola and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of India, in addition to the Memorandum of Understanding between the Diplomatic Academy Ven\u00e2ncio de Moura, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Institute of Foreign Service Sushma Swara from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of India.<\/p>\n

To deal with this procedure, Pratibha Parkar, India’s ambassador to Angola, was received in audience, Thursday, by T\u00e9te Ant\u00f3nio, Minister of Foreign Affairs. India established diplomatic relations with Angola in 1985 and, since then, has maintained a cooperation considered “extremely cordial”.<\/p>\n

Both countries had the first Joint Commission Meeting, co-chaired by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of India, S Jaishankar, and of Foreign Affairs of Angola, T\u00e9te Ant\u00f3nio, on 7 September 2020.<\/p>\n

At the time, the ministers agreed to continue the intensification of bilateral and economic relations, through partnerships in trade and investment, in agriculture and food processing, in the diamond trade, in health and pharmaceuticals, Information and Telecommunications Technologies, oil and natural gas.<\/p>\n

India and Angola share solid technical and educational cooperation. The Indian Government provides regular training to Angolan officials and other professionals through the Technical and Economic Cooperation programs in that Asian country.<\/p>\n

Annually, the Indian Government offers 12 ITEC scholarships to Angolan citizens, for short-term training courses in different areas, such as English Language, Auditing and Finance, Banking, Information Technologies (IT) and Leadership.<\/p>\n

In addition, it also provides annual ICCR scholarships to Angolan students to undertake undergraduate and postgraduate studies in various disciplines at universities in India.<\/p>\n
