Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Angolan business group Carrinho won, on Thursday night (11), in Luanda, two of the seven categories of the 10th edition of the Sirius Awards, an event that distinguishes the performance of organizations and personalities within the framework of good management practices and of projects with socioeconomic impact on the country.<\/b><\/p>\n

These are the Social Responsibility and Manager of the Year awards, for 2023, awarded to the president of the Executive Board of Carrinho, David Maciel, in a ceremony attended by the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o.<\/p>\n

For the Social Responsibility category, the winning company competed with the oil company Azule Energy, Omatapalo, Catoca and Sonangol, while for the Manager of the Year award, executives from BAI and the Casais group, Lui\u0301s Le\u0301lis and Helder Arau\u0301jo, respectively, were competing.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, Carrinho’s manager, David Maciel, considered the two awards as recognition of the work that the group has developed, with the aim of contributing to Angola achieving food self-sufficiency by 2030.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, the president of the Executive Board of this business group said that one of the company’s main objectives is to maintain self-sufficiency in corn and achieve the same goal in beans and cotton, as well as taking significant steps in soybean production, of rice and wheat, aiming to replace imports and achieve food self-sufficiency.<\/p>\n

Other award-winning categories<\/p>\n

Among the seven categories, the Financial Sector Company of the Year award also stood out, with the winner being Banco de Investimento Angolano (BAI), in a list made up of Banco de Fomento Angola (BFA) and Standard Bank.<\/p>\n

For the Non-Financial Sector Company of the Year category, the award went to the oil company Sonangol, which beat Omatapalo and the Casais group.<\/p>\n

The National Bank of Angola (BNA) won the Digital and Technological Development Program category, with its program called \u201cPayment System Innovation Laboratory (LISPA)\u201d, a system that allows greater financial inclusion.<\/p>\n

The Entrepreneurship category was won by the electronic solid waste company NARISREC, which competed with the organizations Octsea Pescaria and ASSEC.<\/p>\n

In turn, the Casais group won the Human Capital Development award, leaving behind BAI and Standard Bank.<\/p>\n

In addition to these seven categories, the organization of the event (Deloitte) and the jury, chaired by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenc\u0327o, awarded the Special Prize to the education sector, whose recipient was the Angolan teacher and researcher Teresa Manguanga Victor.<\/p>\n

The winner has been a scientific researcher for over 20 years, particularly in the environmental field, with works published and recognized around the world.<\/p>\n

When announcing the winner of the Special Prize, the president of the jury, Ana Dias Lourenc\u0327o, considered Education as the main factor in having a developed society.<\/p>\n

He also highlighted the advancement of knowledge, scientific research, innovation and technological development, as well as environmental protection as fundamental elements to improve decision-making.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the event organizers also awarded an honorable mention to all participants, in a gesture of recognition of the commitment and contribution of each competitor.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the chairman of the Board of Directors of the promoting company Deloitte, Jose\u0301 Anto\u0301nio Barata, recalled that the initiative aims to distinguish good business management practices and projects with an impact on the country, a fundamental factor in ensuring the economic and social development of Angola.<\/p>\n

Under the motto \u201cDistinguish excellence, promote the future\u201d, the first edition of the Sirius Awards took place in 2011, having observed an interregnum caused, in part, by the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as a moment of reflection.<\/p>\n
