Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>One hundred young people from the municipalities of Cazenga and Cacuaco, province of Luanda, completed training on \u201cSustainable Agriculture and Social Entrepreneurship\u201d on Saturday as part of the \u201cYa Tchi Yetu\u201d project (Da Nossa Terra, in the Kimbundu language).<\/b><\/p>\n

The training is part of the initiatives of the non-governmental organization EcoAngola, with the support of the UK embassy and other social partners. In the training, which started in July 2021, young people from the municipalities of Cazenga and Cacuaco learned techniques related to community agriculture, solid waste collection and recycling, among other subjects.<\/p>\n

The project coordinator, Iliandra Baptista, said that the program’s main objective was to implement training techniques aimed at empowering young people, especially women, in the fields of cultivation and development of techniques to design sustainable projects.<\/p>\n

According to the coordinator, for approximately nine months the young people also received knowledge on the basis of permaculture practice. Permaculture or Permanent Culture aims to build stable, balanced, self-sufficient agricultural systems that cause a reduced environmental impact.<\/p>\n

During the event, the participants presented to the visitors the community garden that was rehabilitated based on the practice of permaculture and that currently supports the Nazar\u00e9 Reception Center with agricultural products collected on site.<\/p>\n

The employee of the British Embassy in Angola, Mavinde Andr\u00e9, praised the mentors of the project and said that the consulate identified itself with the cause, for involving young people in the conservation of the environment.<\/p>\n

Mavinde Andr\u00e9 said that the “Ya Tchi Yetu” project was developed by EcoAngola with funding of 25,900 pounds from the British Embassy, \u200b\u200bfor its implementation, the result of a memorandum of understanding between the diplomatic mission and the ecological organization.<\/p>\n

The organization of the event created an exhibition, where the articles created by young people trained in the “Ya Tchi Yetu” project can be seen, with an emphasis on recycled products.<\/p>\n
