Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of the Interior, Euge\u0301nio Laborinho, defended, this Thursday (18), in Luanda, the importance of continuous training for investigators and procedural instructors, so that they can be increasingly competent when interpreting laws.<\/b><\/p>\n

The minister was speaking at the opening of the Conference on Human Rights in terms of Research, Challenges and Perspectives, addressed to the staff of the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), which runs until April 19th.<\/p>\n

He stressed that training actions professionalize agents and provide greater guarantees that arrests, prisons and trials are fair.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnyone who intervenes in the deprivation of liberty must know what to do, how to do it, when to do it and why to do it\u201d, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

For the minister, these actions, of a training nature, will also meet citizens’ anxieties about living in a society in which the feeling of security is an irrefutable fact, allowing the normal functioning of institutions and the free movement of people and goods.<\/p>\n

To this end, he continued, the Ministry of the Interior has been designing and implementing a set of training actions in the most varied educational institutions in the country and abroad.<\/p>\n

As part of these efforts, he made it known that the institution has been highlighting the inclusion of specific content focused on human rights, professional ethics and deontology, customer service and other matters to make the authority agent truly committed to respecting the laws.<\/p>\n

In the same vein, the Secretary of State for Human Rights, Ana Celeste Janua\u0301rio, highlighted the importance of training agents on the subject as it allows greater dignity for the human person and guarantees public order and tranquility.<\/p>\n

Ana Celeste highlighted that human rights must be present in all sectors, as the ultimate aim of the authorities’ work is the protection and guarantee of human dignity.<\/p>\n

At the event, several topics were discussed, such as \u201cContemporary Challenges in Criminal Investigation, an academic perspective\u201d, \u201cRespect for human rights as a framework for criminal investigation\u201d, \u201cThe activity of criminal investigation and its implications for mental health\u201d, as well as the \u201cResponsibility of civil society in sharing information on public security and human rights\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Conference aims to identify appropriate methods to promote human rights, taking into account the reality of the SIC’s actions, integrate the protection of human rights in this body and evaluate its staff, as well as reinforce coordination mechanisms.<\/p>\n
