Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Culture, Filipe Zau, urged this Sunday, in the town of Catete, churches to remain partners of the State, in favor of national unity, development and social well-being.<\/b><\/p>\n

The ruler was speaking at the cult of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the World (Tocoi\u0301sta), which marked the end of the pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Catete, which began on April 17th.<\/p>\n

The pilgrimage aimed to intercede for peace in the world, especially for political stability in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), as well as to celebrate the 89th anniversary of the theophany of Sima\u0303o Gonc\u0327alves Toco, the founding prophet of Tocoism.<\/p>\n

According to Filipe Zau, peace, the democratic rule of law, human rights and social justice constitute inalienable values \u200b\u200bof a participatory, representative democracy, in which the cultural role of religiosity and civility, deontology and ethics are inserted. within the scope of exercising citizenship.<\/p>\n

To this end, he said, the State’s partners contribute, with a particularly relevant role for the churches, \u201cwhich guarantee the values \u200b\u200b(of) that society needs, so that citizens can relate appropriately, in a context of fraternity and solidarity permanent”.<\/p>\n

During his intervention, the minister recalled the vicissitudes that Angolans went through, as a result of the armed conflict in the country, from independence until the signing of the peace agreement in 2002.<\/p>\n

Of the harmful consequences of the war, he highlighted the weak functioning of the health system, the lack of staff in this sector and in education, as well as the (high) mortality rate.<\/p>\n

According to Filipe Zau, at that time, because of the war, Angola became part of the list of countries with the lowest health indicators in the world, with the Government spending more on war material to the detriment of improving social conditions.<\/p>\n

The pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Catete is annual and this 2024 edition took place under the motto “Let us celebrate the theophany with prayer to God in favor of peace in the world and stability in the DRC”.<\/p>\n
