Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The representative of the National Service for Copyright and Related Rights (Senadiac) in the province of Cunene, Armindo Ndjungo, appealed, this Tuesday, to local artists to register their works, aiming to protect their copyrights.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a statement, regarding World Book and Copyright Day, which is celebrated the person responsible considered the region’s artists’ turnout to register their works to be weak, due to a lack of culture to protect their creations.<\/p>\n

He said that the institution issued only 10 processes, from 2023 to the present date, of which six were validated and four were not followed up due to the applicants withdrawing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis number does not meet the reality of the province. We have many creators, including musicians, writers, poets, painters, sculptors and inventors of prototypes and brands, which is why we consider the situation worrying, taking into account current technological development, which provides possibilities for the usurpation or plagiarism of any material intellectual property and immaterial\u201d, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

He explained that copyright, as a type of Intellectual Property Law, focuses on the set of rights recognized to creators (authors) of intellectual works in the literary, artistic and scientific domain, with patrimonial, personal or moral nature, as well as the protection enjoyed by oral culture attributed to one or more authors.<\/p>\n

World Book and Copyright Day is a date chosen by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to celebrate books, encourage reading, honor authors and reflect on their legal rights.<\/p>\n

The date was chosen as a tribute to the writers Miguel de Cervantes, Inca Garcilaso de la Vega and William Shakespeare, who died on April 23, 1616.<\/p>\n
