Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The proposed law on Combating Illegal Mining Activity goes to a global vote this Thursday, after being considered by the specialty committees of the National Assembly.<\/b><\/p>\n

The document, already generally approved with 32 votes in favor, zero against and no abstentions, will reinforce the criminalization of Combating Illegal Mining Activity and establish criminal frameworks that allow for the effective protection of legal assets.<\/p>\n

The diploma, which will be voted on during the 5th Extraordinary Plenary Meeting, referring to the 2nd Legislative Session of the V Legislature, seeks to discourage and criminalize conduct that derives from the illicit exploitation of mineral resources that generate harmful impacts on the environment and human life , public health, community livelihoods, economy and consequent development.<\/p>\n

The 1, 2, 5 and 10 specialized commissions of the AN, competent in the matter, assessed the Joint Opinion report of the aforementioned draft law on Combating Illegal Mining Activity, which increases the penalty for conduct that constitutes the crime that is result in illegal mining activity, punishable by a prison sentence of 1 to 6 years (in the most serious crimes) and a fine.<\/p>\n

The same penal framework applies to anyone who steals or conceals transporting any mineral products from the control and supervisory action of the competent authorities.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, several documents will also be discussed, such as the summary minutes referring to the Extraordinary Plenary meetings held on October 14, 2023, February 7 and 28, 2024.<\/p>\n

It also includes discussion and voting, in general, on the Proposed Law that Amends Law n.38\/20, of 11 November – Law that approves the Angolan Penal Code, on the Proposed Law that Amends Law n.013\/15 , of 25 August – Law on International Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters and the Proposed Law that Amends Law n.0 19\/17, of 25 August – Law on Prevention and Combating Terrorism.<\/p>\n

Parliamentarians will also discuss and vote, in general, on the Proposed Law that Amends Law n.0 5\/20, of January 27th – Law to Prevent and Combat Money Laundering, Financing of Terrorism and the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction.<\/p>\n
