Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Planning, Victor Hugo Guilherme, and the assistant administrator of the Africa office, representing the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Monde Muyangwa, celebrated, in Luanda, the first Development Objectives Agreement (DOAG ), valued at more than 12.2 million dollars.<\/b><\/p>\n

For the head of USAID, Angola is a priority country to direct US support to family planning programs, having revealed that, through this agreement, the United Nations organization formalized its support for Angola’s development objectives, facilitating a transformative partnership , which aligns with the National Development Plan (PDN), approved by the Angolan Government.<\/p>\n

Within the agreed amount, he said, are included 3.8 million dollars for the fight against malaria, 1.4 million for the fight against HIV\/AIDS, 5.8 million for family planning and 1.5 million dollars to expand the local partnership.<\/p>\n

“I’m happy to know that Angola prioritizes family planning, so USAID will increase its investments from three million dollars to 10 million annually, in order to help the country improve and meet its priorities within family planning and control \u201d.<\/p>\n

USAID, he continued, supports Angola in economic diversification, through the development of the agrarian sector, including work in the Lobito Corridor, to improve collaboration with other partners, providing new opportunities and direct financing to local organizations.<\/p>\n

Monde Muyangwa explained that the DOAG establishes three development objectives shared by both Angola and the USA. The first is to accelerate the development of human capital, improving results in health and education, with a focus on Angolans in vulnerable situations. The second objective is to improve the business environment for economic diversification, through strengthening governance and increasing trade and investment and the third is to provide support to the country with improved livelihoods and protect natural resources.<\/p>\n

“I am very happy to strengthen the partnership, through the signing of the first implementation letter of the Development Objectives Subsidy Agreement. This is a significant step towards our shared priorities, deepening our journey\u201d, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Planning, Victor Hugo Guilherme, clarified that the more than 12 million dollars in the agreement are destined for projects to combat malaria, the fight against HIV\/AIDS, the promotion of family planning and the Women in Agriculture.<\/p>\n

Present at the event were the US ambassador to Angola and Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe, Tulinabo Mushingi, the USAID director for Southern Africa, Leslie Marbury, and the USAID representative in Angola, William Butterfield.<\/p>\n
