Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Culture, Filipe Zau, congratulated this Monday, in Luanda, the country’s dance groups for the relevance that this body language represents, both as an artistic manifestation and as a wealth of heritage, given the diversity of styles present. <\/b><\/p>\n

In a press release sent on the occasion of World Dance Day (29 April), Filipe Zau highlights that the recognition of \u201cSemba\u201d, as music and dance, in 2023, as National Intangible Heritage and, in the same way , on April 18, 2024, of the genres \u201cKizomba\u201d and \u201cTchianda\u201d, as part of the celebrations of the International Day of Monuments and Sites, illustrates the importance that the Angolan Executive dedicates to this performative art, to be promoted in Angola and also abroad.<\/p>\n

In this context, the note states, they continue to work towards inscribing the \u201cSemba\u201d, as has already happened with the \u201cSona\u201d, on the UNESCO indicative list, as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.<\/p>\n

The date serves as an incentive to survey an increasing number of musical and dance genres, which characterize the country’s cultural diversity, both at urban and rural levels, with a view to inventorying them and safeguarding heritage identity.<\/p>\n

World Dance Day was established by UNESCO in 1982, in honor of the French choreographer Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810).<\/p>\n
