This year, the festivities in the city of Benguela, one of the biggest tourist events in southern Angola, take place from the 2nd to the 31st of May, under the motto \u201cMay is Benguela\/407 years\u201d, and are expected to attract thousands of tourists, seduced by the countless cultural attractions.<\/p>\n

As in previous editions, the occupancy rate in hotel units, including hotels, guesthouses, guesthouses, tourist villages and aparthotels, especially in the cities of Benguela, Catumbela, Bai\u0301a Farta and Lobito, could rise to 80 percent.<\/p>\n

The authorities are optimistic about this expected demand to boost the local economy, according to the provincial vice-governor for Technical Services and Infrastructure and coordinator of the festivals in the city of Benguela, Adilson Gonc\u0327alves, who guarantees the hotel sector’s response capacity to meet national and foreign tourists.<\/p>\n

Adilson Gonc\u0327alves, who spoke in the Jardim da Repu\u0301blica, during the public presentation of the program marking the 407th anniversary of the city of Benguela, which marks the 17th of May, emphasized that, as they have already proven their capacity to respond in previous editions, this year , hotel agents will not escape the rule.<\/p>\n

Hence it explains that, within the framework of the outlined program, the committee for the aforementioned parties was concerned with bringing, from the outset, the Benguela Hotel and Tourism Association (AHTUB), to be better prepared and maintain a quality service.<\/p>\n

Recalling that Benguela receives many visitors on weekends, especially long weekends, the governor highlights the good response capacity, and, in his opinion, complaints from tourists regarding the provision of services are rare, except for insufficient beds.<\/p>\n

However, the person responsible admits that these complaints regarding the insufficient number of beds actually end up being a positive indicator of how Benguela is becoming a tourist destination at national level.<\/p>\n

Tourist routes<\/p>\n

The deputy governor informed that AHTUB is working with the Provincial Office of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports to redefine Benguela’s tourist routes.<\/p>\n

For Adilson Gonc\u0327alves, the traditional festivals in the city of Benguela have the particularity of moving not only the province, but also the country in general.<\/p>\n

However, he says that one of the various ways to attract an increasing number of tourists is to update tourist routes, with the inclusion of new places yet to be explored, mainly in the southern maritime area of \u200b\u200bBenguela.<\/p>\n

He further explained that this objective led the president of AHTUB, Cla\u0301udio Silva, to carry out, in the last ten days, boat visits to unexplored beaches in the south, missing in the north, as part of the redefinition of a new tourist itinerary for Benguela.<\/p>\n

The director of the Provincial Office of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports, Rosa\u0301ria Chitale, looks at the festivals in the city of Aca\u0301cias Rubras as the best way to bring tourists to the region.<\/p>\n

Attractions<\/p>\n

In addition, cultural farms, stand up comedy, theater, poetry recitals, Kupapatas and Kaleluia competitions, football tournaments, international Jiu Jitsu championship, clay pigeon shooting, athletics racing, cycling, horses and karting are also planned.<\/p>\n
