Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The coordinator of the Women and Sports Association (AMUD), in the province of Cunene, Alice Sapalalo, asked local sports associations this Friday to invest more in the development of female practitioners in the region.<\/b><\/p>\n

Regarding women’s football in Cunene, he defended the need to create handball, athletics, basketball, football, futsal, swimming, volleyball, chess and combat sports teams in all municipalities.<\/p>\n

He made it known that the practice of women’s sport in the province is low, which is why AMUD has been working to advocate for associations of various sports, to prioritize the involvement of girls in sport.<\/p>\n

For this reason, he highlighted the need to invest in training levels and the massification of modalities, aiming to achieve a high technical and competitive level of practitioners.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoosting sports among women is our main objective, as a way of increasing the practicing population and the development of football, especially in schools and communities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Alice Sapalalo made it known that AMUD, since 2023, has been promoting the recovery of traditional games, from wela, macaca and leiti, in primary education institutions, involving children.<\/p>\n

Provincial Association for Women and Sports in Cunene, has 10 former football, athletics, basketball and chess practitioners.<\/p>\n

Currently, the province has four teams that participate in the provincial football championship, namely SC Cuanhama, CD Castilhos, CD Mukolongondjo and Atle\u0301tico do Cunene.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2008, AMUD aims to create sports development policies for gender balance.<\/p>\n

The province of Cunene has two fields with synthetic grass, located in the city of Ondjiva, as well as 20 \u201cnaked\u201d clay fields at municipal level.<\/p>\n
