Speaking on the occasion of International Jazz Day (April 30), the music critic said that he has noted, with satisfaction, the increase in the number of people interested in playing and learning this artistic manifestation, a fact that has allowed its evolution and promotion.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the specialist highlighted the contribution of churches to the evolution of jazz, justifying that these institutions have allowed the teaching and learning of musical instruments.<\/p>\n

\u201cChurches have played a proactive role in this area, as many people, when attending religious congregations, became interested in learning to play musical instruments. In America, for example, in the last century, many musicians began to learn jazz in these institutions and on the street. Today, all over the world, this style is taught in schools, universities, higher education institutes, among others\u201d, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

In this sense, he defended the creation of more musical training centers, in order to guarantee the correct learning of this musical type.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, he advocated the need to combat the stigmatization that jazz is linked to marginality, highlighting that this musical genre marked several emblematic Angolan poets, such as Agostinho Neto and Viriato da Cruz.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important that we put an end to the prejudice that jazz is linked to marginality, as has been thought for a long time, as it is a meeting of cultures\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n

International Jazz Day was established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) in 2011, in order to highlight the musical style and its diplomatic role in uniting people around the world.<\/p>\n
