Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The defense and security forces foiled, in the town of Santa Clara, Cunene province, the trafficking of four citizens of Ethiopian nationality.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was provided this Saturday by the head of the Institutional Communication and Press office of the National Police in Cunene, chief superintendent Nicolau Tuvecalela.<\/p>\n

Aged between 24 and 36 years old, the alleged victims entered Angola on tourist visas and intended to reach South Africa, where there was a promise of work and residence, he said.<\/p>\n

He explained that the citizens in question were from Ethiopia on the Addis Ababa \u2013 Dubai route, having applied for a tourist visa at the 4 de Fevereiro international airport, in Luanda.<\/p>\n

For aiding illegal emigration, the Police detained two national citizens, aged 49 and 55, and a 26-year-old Namibian who would help with the passage from Angola to Namibia on \u201cwireless\u201d routes.<\/p>\n

In the same action, eight thousand and four hundred Namibian dollars and 20 thousand kwanzas were seized, which would be used to cover the costs of accommodation, food and payments for the facilitators.<\/p>\n

An identical case occurred on March 31st of this year, when the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) detained 11 citizens of Bangladeshi and Pakistani nationalities, also coming from Dubai on their way to South Africa.<\/p>\n

The province of Cunene shares 460 kilometers of border with Namibia, 340 of which are land and 120 are river.<\/p>\n
