Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The vice-president of the MPLA, Lui\u0301sa Damia\u0303o, highlighted, this Monday, in Windhoek, that Angola and Namibia share a common history of solidarity and brotherhood.<\/b><\/p>\n

The politician expressed this fact after a meeting with the vice-president of SWAPO and Namibia, Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah, as part of her working visit to this country.<\/p>\n

Senior leaders from Swapo were also part of the meeting, which took place in the former Presidential Palace of Namibia, with relations between the two parties, which have lasted for many years, dominating the agenda.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, Lui\u0301sa Damia\u0303o congratulated the vice-president of SWAPO for nominating her as a candidate for President, in the elections next November, and for being a woman who inspires others across the continent.<\/p>\n

Luisa Damia\u0303o highlighted the fact that the MPLA and SWAPO share unbreakable bonds of friendship and cooperation, also highlighting the leadership of President Nangolo Mbumba and Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah in the SWAPO party.<\/p>\n

The vice-president of the party in power in Angola made it known, during the meeting, that the MPLA remains committed to Peace and National Reconciliation, as well as the consolidation of the democratic state and the rule of law.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that the MPLA is increasingly committed to gender parity, which is why the number of Angolan women occupying important positions in political, legislative and judicial power is visible.<\/p>\n

Therefore, he highlighted the fact that Angola has women in the Vice-Presidency of the Republic, in the leadership of the parliament, the Constitutional Court, in addition to the vice-presidency of the largest party.<\/p>\n

For her part, the vice-president of SWAPO and the Republic of Namibia, Netumbo Nandi Ndaintwah, stated that Angola and Namibia have strong brotherly relations cemented by the history of struggle against colonialism and Apartheid.<\/p>\n

He said that during this period Namibians found a second home in Angola.<\/p>\n

Therefore, he highlighted, Namibians remain grateful for the spirit of camaraderie between the MPLA and the Angolan people.<\/p>\n

Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah once again thanked the Angolan people and government for their support during the funeral of President Hage Geingob, who passed away on February 4th.<\/p>\n

He added that Angola is an oil producing country from which Namibia would like to learn and benefit from its experience, also promoting the economy of both countries in various areas, in order to also develop the Southern African region.<\/p>\n

Soon afterwards, the MPLA Vice-President and the delegation accompanying her held a meeting with the SWAPO secretariat, which served to exchange views between the two parties.<\/p>\n

At this meeting, the two parties addressed issues linked to cooperation in different areas, such as policies aimed at women, youth, former combatants and in the field of staff training.<\/p>\n

Since Sunday, Lui\u0301sa Damia\u0303o has been on a six-day visit to Namibia at the invitation of her SWAPO counterpart, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.<\/p>\n
