Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Diamond extraction in Angola is expected to rise, in 2027, to 17.53 million carats per year, surpassing the figure of 8.72 million achieved in 2021.<\/b><\/p>\n

The data was revealed, this Thursday, in Luanda, by the director of the Statistical Studies office of the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas (MIREMPET), Alexandre Garreth.<\/p>\n

According to the person in charge who addressed the topic \u201cObjectives and Targets of the Mining Sector (PDN and PDS 2023-2027), at the Training Seminar for Communication Journalists in the field of mining, in relation to gold production, the aim is to surpass the 1.37 thousand fine ounces reached in 2021, with prospecting for 13.18 thousand fine ounces in 2027.<\/p>\n

In this sense, he highlighted that MIREMPET’s goals fall within the National Development Plan 2023-2027 (PDN 2023 \u2013 2027), emphasizing that the sector’s challenges are to achieve the intended goals, as it is an activity that requires engagement from the entire sector.<\/p>\n

Regarding the construction of the Ouro refinery in the municipality of Viana, in Luanda, the director informed that the work is expected to be completed by the end of this year, with activities to begin in 2025.<\/p>\n

According to those responsible, the production of ornamental rocks aims to exceed 83.34 thousand m3, a figure produced in 2021, to reach 134.22 thousand m3 in 2027.<\/p>\n

To meet the challenges, this year, the construction of the Ornamental Rocks Development Pole in the province of Namibe is expected.<\/p>\n

He also suggested that iron ore production could increase from 157.8 thousand metric tons in 2021 to 600.0 thousand metric tons in 2027.<\/p>\n

By 2027, he continued, ten diamond cutting factories will be built, under the coordination of ENDIAMA, four in the province of Lunda-Norte and six in the province of Lunda-Sul.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Pig Iron production is expected to reach at least 96 thousand metric tons per year in 2027, with Manganese production increasing from 47.0 thousand metric tons in 2021 to 85 thousand metric tons in 2027.<\/p>\n

He added that by 2027, an average of 27.7 thousand metric tons of copper should be produced per year.<\/p>\n

The training seminar brought together journalists from various public and private bodies and had the motto \u201cDecoding the language of the mining sector to better communicate\u201d.<\/p>\n

The seminar is a promotion of the ministry, in partnership with the Association of Economic Journalists (AJECO).<\/p>\n
