Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Yesterday, in Luanda, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) offered the National Institute for Biodiversity and Conservation (INBC) means to support the inspection and fight against environmental crimes.<\/b><\/p>\n

The UNDP delivered six vehicles and an equipped tractor, and should soon make available two boats and five motorcycles.<\/p>\n

According to the UNDP deputy representative in Angola, Mamisua Rangers, these means will be used to inspect the Maiombe National Park and the Luando Integral Nature Reserve. Mamisua Rangers said the delivery of the means falls within the scope of combating the illegal wildlife trade. He stressed that the United Nations Development Program has worked hard to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, which consist of protecting terrestrial biodiversity, protecting, restoring and promoting the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, managing forests, combating desertification, and reverse land degradation and biodiversity loss.<\/p>\n

The UNDP Deputy Representative considers that Angola has one of the greatest ecosystem diversities in Africa, with tropical rainforests and rare species of animals.<\/p>\n

The director of the National Institute for Biodiversity and Conservation (INBC), Albertina Nzuzi Matias, considers that these means will help to combat environmental crimes, which are already reaching alarming proportions.<\/p>\n
