Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola and the United Kingdom signed, Wednesday (13), in Luanda, an agreement aimed at granting study grants, worth US$180,000, for the benefit of nine Angolan students.<\/b><\/p>\n

The program, called Edition 2022\/2023, is implemented in coordination with the National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG), in partnership with BP, also aiming to promote leaders capable of exerting a positive influence on communities.<\/p>\n

Lasting one year, the project is aimed at students interested in taking a master’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Climate Change, Economics and Finance, Management, Energy, Engineering, Human Resources, as well as Law and Governance.<\/p>\n

The UK Ambassador to Angola, Roger Marshall, reiterated the commitment to support initiatives aimed at developing professional development of young Angolans, “this being one of the maximum exponents of all the work that has been done in recent years”.<\/p>\n

Roger Marshall highlighted the courage, commitment and determination of the Angolan students who participated in the 2020\/2021 project and who, in a pandemic context, embraced the challenge and zealously and positively fulfilled the program.<\/p>\n

The diplomat stated that his country offers conditions and schools with quality education, capable of enriching the necessary curriculum and human development.<\/p>\n

“Education transforms people and it is people who transform communities and societies,” he said.<\/p>\n

For his part, the senior vice-president of BP, H\u00e9lder Silva, said that the agreement is part of a protocol of bloc 31 with the British Embassy, \u200b\u200bof more than four years, within the scope of cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n

H\u00e9lder Silva stressed that the program will provide the opportunity to be among the leaders of the future, in a wide range of sectors, with influential alumni, through invitations to Chevening events in London and abroad.<\/p>\n

“We reiterate our commitment to maintaining strategic partnerships like this one and we are grateful for the opportunity given to us by the Chevening program, by the British Government”, he said.<\/p>\n

The Chevening” program is co-funded by the UK Ministry of Foreign Affairs and aims to provide financial support to candidates with excellent academic results, recognized leadership potential and guaranteed access to any UK university.<\/p>\n

Jo\u00e3o Sionguele, master of the Finance and Risk Management course, beneficiary of the 2020\/2021 course, said it was a unique experience, having, even in the pandemic phase, managed to make the most of it.<\/p>\n

According to the student, there were many challenges in relation to the new teaching methodology, more than ninety percent online and interaction issues, and today he is inserted in the job market.<\/p>\n
