Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The bridge over the Loge River, on National Road 210, which connects the municipalities of Mbanza Kongo and Nzeto, Zaire province, shows signs of degradation, according to motorists who travel this route.<\/b><\/p>\n

Measuring 170 meters long and 15 meters wide, the structure also serves as a link between the provinces of Zaire and Luanda, passing through the Bengo region.<\/p>\n

Some taxi drivers who travel the Mbanza Kongo\/Nzeto\/Luanda route and vice versa, confirmed that the aforementioned structure shows signs of wear and tear on the concrete pillars, and therefore appeal to the competent authorities to take preventive measures.<\/p>\n

Pedro Tedy, a motorist, asked for experts to be sent to the scene to verify the real situation and the consequent reversal of the scenario.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a national road that connects all municipalities in the province of Zaire, so a possible collapse of the bridge could isolate the region from the rest of the country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Agostinho Joa\u0303o, another taxi driver, said that Estrada Nacional 210 constitutes a driving force in the socio-economic development of the province of Zaire.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is the only national road we have and which connects us with the country’s capital, Luanda, by land, which is why we request an urgent solution from the competent structures\u201d, he expressed.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the provincial director of the National Roads Institute of Angola (INEA) in Zaire, Manuel do Rosa\u0301rio Mendes reassured motorists, adding that the bridge is not at imminent risk of collapsing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are going to have a meeting in Luanda, which should also include the inspection company, to find a solution in this regard. So at first glance, the painting is really scary, but it doesn’t affect its support structure.\u201d, he explained.<\/p>\n

He informed that a way of anchoring the aforementioned road structure over the River Loge, which has existed for more than 15 years, is being studied.<\/p>\n
