Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, is already in Luanda, after three days of work in the province of Namibe.<\/b><\/p>\n

In Namibe, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o inaugurated 26 infrastructures to support the management of the Iona National Park and witnessed the release of 13 giraffes to repopulate this natural reserve area.<\/p>\n

To encourage tourism in Iona, the Head of State traveled a few kilometers of the desert dunes at the wheel of a quad bike.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, he said that the foundations have been laid for the relaunch of tourism in the park located in the municipality of To\u0302mbwa.<\/p>\n

He said that, after the attention given to Iona Park, others such as the national parks of Cangandala, Luengue\u0301-Luciana, Bicuar and Cameia will follow, and public tenders should be held to award these tasks.<\/p>\n

The statesman led a meeting with the provincial government of Namibe, where he learned about the socio-economic situation in the region.<\/p>\n

The governor of Namibe, Archer Mangueira, presented a detailed report on the socio-economic reality of the province, in which he highlighted the program to combat drought, and highlighted the execution of 39 projects to bring water to more than 200 thousand affected people, in addition to water supply. of cattle.<\/p>\n

He spoke about the growth of the health sector, which gained 19 health units and 225 new professionals from 2021 to 2023, as part of the implementation of the Integrated Program for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), which has already seen 99 projects implemented out of the 106 in the portfolio.<\/p>\n

Before leaving the province of Namibe, President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o found out about the progress of the rehabilitation works in Moc\u0327a\u0302medes Bay.<\/p>\n

The project includes the rehabilitation of the Sacomar Mineral Terminal and the expansion of the Port of Namibe Container Terminal, the technical mobilization phase of which is almost complete. Work ends in February 2025<\/p>\n

PR’s last visit to Namibe was in 2021, at the end of its first term.<\/p>\n
