{"id":63088,"date":"2024-05-22T17:05:02","date_gmt":"2024-05-22T17:05:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/?p=63088"},"modified":"2024-05-22T16:51:04","modified_gmt":"2024-05-22T16:51:04","slug":"angola-makes-progress-in-protecting-childrens-rights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/angola-makes-progress-in-protecting-childrens-rights","title":{"rendered":"Angola makes progress in protecting children&#8217;s rights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola. <\/strong><\/span><b>Representative Lui\u0301sa Damia\u0303o presented, this Monday, 20th, in Johannesburg (South Africa), Angola&#8217;s progress in legislative matters for the protection of children&#8217;s rights.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Angolan parliamentarian was speaking at the debate of the Commission on Human Development and Special Programs of the SADC Parliamentary Forum, which takes place under the motto \u201cAdvancing the African Union&#8217;s 2040 agenda and strengthening parliament&#8217;s commitment to legislation and policies focused on children\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>On the occasion, he informed that Angola ratified the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, on April 11, 1992, having deposited the instruments of ratification with the Secretary-General of the OAU on October 7, 1999.<\/p>\n<p>Lui\u0301sa Damia\u0303o said that Angola, as a member state of the African Union, the United Nations and the Development Community of Southern African Countries, has ratified a set of international legal instruments on human rights, including the African Charter on Rights and Welfare.
