Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Angolan Navy (MGA) and its French counterpart are carrying out, this Tuesday, in the Gulf of Guinea region, a set of military exercises called \u201cMegalops\u201d, with a view to improving cooperation and the fight against pollution river.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was provided on Monday, in Luanda, by the commander of the French patrol vessel “Commandant Birot”, Aure\u0301lien De Gouve, in statements to the press.<\/p>\n

Aure\u0301lien De Gouve said that these actions aim to reinforce the fight against illegal fishing and maritime piracy.<\/p>\n

He also added that the exercises, based on various maritime operations, will make it possible to standardize the action and effectiveness of the two naval forces.<\/p>\n

Also on Monday, the French military offered security material to the Association of Artisanal, Semi-Industrial and Industrial Fishing of Luanda (APASIL).<\/p>\n

It consists of a first aid bag, buoys, a light that allows visibility to the person in need of rescue and a sound system that serves the purpose of alerting.<\/p>\n

Aure\u0301lien De Gouve recalled that the French navy is open to supporting any needs of its Angolan counterpart and highlighted that their relationship is \u201cvery good\u201d.<\/p>\n

The ship \u201cCommandat Birot\u201d will remain in the Angolan capital until June 21st of this year.<\/p>\n

During this period, several sporting events will be held, including a football game with the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA).<\/p>\n

It will also be possible to create an opportunity for the Birot team to discover the numerous places in Angola, as well as to visit areas of tourist interest on the outskirts of Luanda.<\/p>\n

This stopover constitutes an important moment of sharing and camaraderie, which testifies to the dynamism and quality of cooperation and exchange activities between the armed forces of the two countries.<\/p>\n
