Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Although the construction projects for the Cabinda, Soyo and Lobito refineries are being affected by the impact of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, the deadlines for completion of the works will be met, said the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas.<\/b><\/p>\n

The impact of the crisis in Ukraine follows that of the Covid-19 pandemic, which had already influenced the construction of the three petrochemical units, but the Government maintains the deadlines for completion, according to statements made to the press by Diamantino Azevedo, in Monday.<\/p>\n

Information available in our editorial office indicates that the contractual deadlines for the conclusion of the works in the three units are established for after June of the current year, in the case of the first phase of the Cabinda Refinery (the same deadline foreseen for the end of the expansion and modernization Luanda), for 2025 (Soyo) and for 2026 (Lobito).<\/p>\n

“We have some constraints on these projects, all caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and, more recently, by the war in Europe, which affect the logistics chain of supply of the material necessary for the realization of these projects, but we continue with these dates”, he said. Diamond Azevedo.<\/p>\n

At the Luanda Refinery, he recalled, the project is in the final phase, which consists of increasing gasoline refining capacity, which will reduce imports.<\/p>\n

The minister added that the war in Europe is also affecting the national economy, since, despite benefiting from the increase in the price of oil, the country also spends as a result of the increase in the prices of oil derivatives that it imports at levels of up to 80 percent of consumption needs.<\/p>\n
