Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Republic of Angola assumed this Friday, in Luanda, the presidency of the United Nations Permanent Consultative Committee in charge of Security issues in Central Africa (UNSAC), in a mandate that will extend until November this year.<\/b><\/p>\n

The handover of the presidency took place during the 57th Ministerial Meeting of UNSAC, which takes place in one of the hotels in Luanda, under the motto \u201cMediation Initiatives at the Regional Level: Challenges and Opportunities\u201d.<\/p>\n

In his speech, the head of Angolan diplomacy, Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio, highlighted the importance of the meeting’s theme, which reflects the political will of Member States to peacefully resolve regional challenges.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Foreign Affairs recognized President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o’s efforts towards peace and reconciliation in the region, highlighting his role in important processes, such as the pacification of the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the improvement of relations between this country and Rwanda, within the scope of the Luanda Process.<\/p>\n

\u200bRegarding Angola’s commitment to peace, minister Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio emphasized the need for coordination between actors and institutions involved in conflict mediation, and welcomed the countries that held peaceful elections in the region, as a reflection of the political maturity of their people.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the head of the United Nations regional office for Central Africa, Abdou Abarry, also made some considerations, stating that he was convinced that Angola will continue to reinforce efforts to pursue the common objectives of this Committee, which aim to promote, security and stability in Central Africa.<\/p>\n

The United Nations Permanent Advisory Committee in Charge of Security Issues in Central Africa (UNSAC) constitutes: Angola, Burundi, Gabon, Cameroon, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe, Rwanda, Chad , Central African Republic (CAR) and Equatorial Guinea.\u200b<\/p>\n
