Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>A Joint Mission of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the African Union Commission and the Red Cross of Angola is due to travel shortly to the provinces of Cunene, Hu\u00edla and Namibe to assess the extent of the impact of the drought in communities in the southern region of the country.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Angolan ambassador to Ethiopia and permanent representative to the African Union, Francisco Jos\u00e9 da Cruz, evaluated this possibility with the head of the Delegation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent to the organisation, Itonde Kakoma.<\/p>\n

The Joint Mission intends to contemplate the efforts of the Angolan Executive in responding to the drought situation with a food security operation in the aforementioned provinces, namely through an integrated program that contributes to the nutrition of the population in the long term.<\/p>\n

In another aspect of his diplomatic action, Ambassador Francisco Jos\u00e9 da Cruz met with the African Union Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, the Nigerian Bankole Adeoye, to discuss the preparation of the Extraordinary Summit on Terrorism and Unconstitutional Changes in Government, scheduled for May 28 this year, in Malabo, capital of Equatorial Guinea, on the initiative of the Angolan Head of State, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o.<\/p>\n

Commissioner Bankole made a visit to Angola last week to make contact with government authorities on the matter, having been received in audience by the President of the Republic, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o.<\/p>\n
